Starting from redesigned model in 2016, Mercedes has renamed their famous GLE. We are soon expecting to see new 2018 Mercedes GLE SUV. Future GLE will be offered in several different versions: GLE350, GLE400 and GLE550e. We expect to see AMG versions as well, including AMG GLE43, AMG GLE63, AMG GLE63 S, AMG GLE43 Coupe and AMG GLE63 S Coupe.
2018 GLE300d is still on hold, but it will probably be in the lineup as well. Both exterior and interior design will carry over from current version, so don’t expect any drastic changes at all. New 2018 GLE will be equipped with heated power seats, rain sensors, power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, power folding mirrors and COMAND infotainment system. All this is available as standard, while optional equipment includes Bang&Olufsen sound system, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, massaging and ventilated front seats, soft-close doors and DVD entertainment system at the back. Safety systems and features should again include rearview camera, automatic lane-correcting steering assist, blind-spot alert and forward-collision alert with autonomous emergency braking.
2018 Mercedes GLE engine and fuel economy specs
2018 Mercedes GLE engine lineup will remain unchanged compared to the current model. GLE 350 will be powered by 3.5-liter V6 engine generating 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph is set in 7.5 seconds. GLE 400 engine is 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6 unit producing 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. This model can reach 60 mph in 6 seconds flat. GLE550e comes equipped with 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, along with electric motor. Total power output for this version is set at 436 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This model comes from 0 to 60 mph in only 5.3 seconds. Engines should be combined with 9-speed automatic transmission. AMG models will use 3.0-liter V6 engine with 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. And 5.5-liter V8 unit generating 577 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque. GLE300d should be powered by 2.1-liter turbodiesel generating 215 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes will also offer their 4matic all-wheel drive system. 2018 Mercedes GLE fuel economy specs are rated at 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, averaging 20 mpg for GLE350 with front-wheel drive and 18/22/19 mpg with 4Matic all-wheel drive.
2018 Mercedes GLE release date and price review
2018 Mercedes GLE release date is expected in fall 2017. Main rivals on the market will be Porsche Cayenne, Tesla Model X, BMW X6, Lexus RX, Range Rover Sport and Infiniti QX70. 2018 Mercedes GLE price range will go from $54,000 for 2018 GLE350 up to $68,000 for GLE550e. AMG GLE price will range from $69,000 for GL43 up to $112,500 for the GLE63 S Coupe.
